Ooooh Ceelo

Clearly not suitable for work or around children who are at that stage where they mimic everything they hear -- but really, really hilarious ... and catchy!

trickshot, slickshot

Federer is so suave with his euro ways.

owls

I'm on a spending freeze, but had a fit when I saw these on etsy. Chris is dead set on getting a cast iron pan and I was looking around on etsy for one but got sidetracked ( as we all do when we browse etsy). How cute are these guys? Alas, they will probably be gone forever by the time I get my funds in order. Oh well. At least I have a photo of them.

sublime crime

My sister and I wrote and recorded this little ditty many years ago. Why two Korean girls wrote a country song, I do not know. I just know it was pretty gosh darn fun.
I was on guitar and lead vocals, and Uno played violin and did harmony. It probably took us nearly 3 hours to record but we wrote the song (if you can even call it that) in about 15 minutes while waiting in the car for my parents to finish up at church one night. We titled the song, "Sublime Crime II."

Enjoy!

(I really miss singing with my sister.)

"Mom flatly rejected my request"

I called home this weekend and complained to my family about how I kept getting bitten by mosquitoes. My dad told me that mosquitoes deserve a nobel prize in medicine because they boost your immune system. I sent him an email with a photo of my most recent bite in all its puffed up glory to try and convince him that mosquitoes are God's worst creation. Here's how he responded. (Prepare to die laughing):

*****

Jeannie!
Your immune system has been greatly improved by the
boost shot you got from Ms. M.
Female mosquitoes are the biting ones.
They need blood for egg generation.
Your contribution for the Kingdom of Mosquitoes was
compensated by an upgrade in your immunization level.
See! We are helping each othe by the creation order!
Give thanks in every circumstance.

By the way, I am being harassed by a squirrel.
That bad guy/gal comes to my home from the mountain,
always sits on the wall and spies on me, eats my precious
tomatoes and other vegetables.
My airgun cannot penetrate its thick fur.
I asked mom for a better gun. Mom flatly rejected my request.
I need an air gun with minimum 1000ft/sec shot velocity.
Please join me in pursuading Mom to get permission.
Best wishes for you and may the Lord richly bless you.
In Christ Jesus,
Dr. Choi

the brusque affection

Andrew Sullivan.
The moments I have felt closest to God have been when I have been stripped of every security, the moments when I have felt no love, known no safe home, witnessed unspeakable cruelty - and was rescued by nothing but his ineffable, boundless and yet intimate Love.
This is not an argument, I know. It can easily be dismissed as wish-fulfillment. I beg of you only to respect that this is not how I experienced these moments. They were real. In suffering, I have felt and known God reach into my life and grab me by the scruff of my neck and shake me with the brusque affection of a father's compassion. "Andrew, Andrew ... you fret and are anxious about so many things. But only one thing is necessary."

outtakes

I know you're supposed to post really perfect and beautiful photos on your blog, but guess what folks!? Life is not perfect and beautiful all the time -- in fact, most of the time life is weird and wonky.

I have no idea what is happening in this photo but Chris and I look so funny so I just had to post it. I think the photo shows us as we really are: simply human. [p.s. I highly recommend clicking on the photo to enlarge it to full weirdness :)]

Friday Links Round-Up

**Every Friday, I compile a friday links round up for Sojourners' blog, God's Politics. I thought I'd start reposting them here as well :)

Anne Rice. Elena Kagan. Kanye West. Baseball. Here's a little round-up of links from the web you may have missed this week:
  • The immigration debate is heating up. Get your information here.
  • Watch this inspiring video on how "scraper bikes" are transforming youth in one Oakland, California, neighborhood.
  • If you haven't been reading illustrator Christoph Niemann's NYTimes blog, "Abstract City," start reading immediately!
  • The Senate confirmed Elena Kagan to a seat on the Supreme Court yesterday. Check out this infographic showing what is discussed in confirmation hearings.
  • Feel like staying in and watching a movie? Consider one of these great films.
  • Kanye West + The New Yorker cartoons = Hilarity.
  • Finally, for you baseball fans: the greatest catch of the summer:

good friends are hard to find

So when you find em, keep em. This is sort of a crummy picture but I just had to post it. I met up with my college friends tonight for dinner and it was so delightful. We asked our server to take a photo of us and it didn't turn out that great, but I'm glad we got this documented. Cheers!

**edit: yes, that's my unfinished beer on the table. That's about as far as I could get :)

all gussied up

This is right after Christopher's sister's wedding (It was beautiful!). Chris is in his standard issued usher uniform, and I'm wearing an old dress which I was glad to wear again.

We are both saying to the camera, "kiss me, you handsome devil"

silk shirt

I went to a wedding this weekend and my friend Mel wore a super beautiful silk shirt and now I can't stop thinking about how pretty and simple it looked.

madewell

Hers was white but this color is pretty too. Isn't that nice?

wow shakira

Warning: Very sexy but very incredible dancing! And how about those Korean drummers in the beginning? I sort of want to learn how to do that.

sort of reminds me of that brazillian dance, capoeria.
